Treatments vary depending on the type of chemical peel chosen. However, each treatment begins with preparing the skin, the chemical peel is then applied to the skin for a certain amount of time.
Is there a healing period after a chemical peel treatment?
Immediately after a chemical peel treatment your skin will feel tight and may be red in appearance. The skin may peel for 3-5 days, depending on the chemical peel used. It is highly recommended to follow the post care to enhnace the healing process and results.
How do I care for my skin after a chemical peel treatment?
To enhance the healing process and results, it is important to use gentle cleansers, moisturizer and sunscreen.
Is there anything that should be avoided after a chemical peel treatment?
After getting a chemical peel treatment, you should avoid sun exposure and using topical creams with retinoids, AHA and BHA until healed. Heavy exercise and sweating should also be avoided for 2-3 days after treatment. Electrolysis, threading ,waxing or any form of hair removal should not be performed on the treated area for 7 to 14 days depending on the chemical peel used. It is important to not pick at the peeling skin.
How long will my skin peel for?
Depending on the peel used, flaking may start 48-72 hours after treatment and can last for 2-5 days. It is important to control the peeling with moisturizer and to not pick at the peeling skin.
